Information and Influence in the Bioscience Industry

BioMedSA supports the bioscience industry through programming, informational seminars, and working groups that all facilitate collaborations or solve industry issues. Members also have opportunities to be involved in legislative advocacy for the life science industry. The Healthcare Think Tank and the Health Cell offer opportunities for networking at weekly and monthly meetings with invited speakers. Biofest Invest provides opportunities for learning and connections with resource providers and investors.

Bridge to Bio Program

The Bridge to Bio program was specifically designed to support the growth of startups in San Antonio and surrounding areas by offering guidance at every step along the way.

Partners in this program have committed to offering their expertise through a series of workshops, virtual classes, and one-on-one sessions. These specific, intentional milestones help to build a strong foundation for growth by helping businesses develop strategic business plans, clarity company stories, develop solid pitch decks, and write Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant proposals. Participants will also develop relationships with our nationally connected partners, who are responsible for helping over 300 startups raise over $600M to date.

Funded by the Small Business Administration 2023 Growth Accelerator Fund provides these resources at no cost to selected startups.

Influencing Changes in Life Science

BioMedSA members help to improve the life science industry to resolve issues and optimize collaborations. Currently, BioMedSA has initiated a clinical trial task force to explore how the clinical trial sector can be optimized for collaborations and patient care. To grow the region’s available workforce, BioMedSA has established a life science consortium and assists non-industry specific community initiatives, such as SA Ready to Work. BioMedSA also brings the voices of our members and their issues to legislators and policy makers to enable our members to accelerate their work and improve patient care. We are part of a network of advocacy groups across the state of Texas and the nation pushing for change, including the Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute (THBI).
