BioMedSA’s Board of Directors approved 3 new memberships in December 2023: Cryogene, Precision Group, and Texas A&M University San Antonio.
Cryogene is a large scale biorepository founded in 2003 that seeks to provide a full spectrum of regulated storage services in the Life Sciences. Facilities house both sample storage and individual freezers for long term storage. With headquarters in Houston, Cryogene is preparing to open a facility in San Antonio to offer cryopreservation services to the biomedical and biological research community. Services include chain of custody for quality assurance, backup protocol for specimen preservation, and a variety of software monitoring and customer support.
Precision Group provides support and services to the science and technology industry through R&D, design, plastic injection molding and packaging, clean room class 8 manufacturing systems and client designed solutions. Precision Group is ISO 13485:2016 certified to provide support to the medical device sector as well as prototype development, engineering and CAD design, and mold manufacturing. Precision Group is also ISO 9001:2015 certified for their quality management systems.
Texas A&M University San Antonio is a public institution that is part of the growing south side community in San Antonio. With a current enrollment of 7300 students and alumni of over 15,000, TAMUSA is a Hispanic Serving Institution with a predominantly first generation college population (73%). There are 62 undergraduate and graduate degrees available in this upper-division institution of higher education. Recognizing the needs of the San Antonio economy, TAMUSA is currently developing a degree program in biomedical science.
