BioMedSA New Members: June 2022

BioMedSA’s Board of Directors approved 8 new memberships in June, 2022: CSC Leasing, Summa Bio-Solutions, MedCognition, Transwestern, Kreager Mitchell Law Firm, Nurlabs, Gryphon Bio, and STAR Park.

CSC Leasing Company provides operating leases and lease lines on equipment up to $20 million, helping a wide range of businesses in multiple industries, including healthcare and bioscience.  From early stage and non-dilutive growth capital to established credits, CSC Leasing is a full-service independent leasing company that works with their customers to maintain positive lasting relationships.

Summa Bio-Solutions is a commercially driven biotechnology company out of Ft. Worth, TX.  With a focus on regnerative medicine, they leverage their proprietary medhot to isolate and recover naturally occuring Pluripotent Stem Cells for applications in diagnostics, therapeutics, tissue engineering and cell banking. They also have a proprietary line of adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells, screened to be disease-free and contain a high level of factors to inhibit inflammatory condistions.

MedCognition is a medical device company out of San Antonio that has developed a portable medical simulation training system for healthcare workers and first responders using artificial intelligence. They are providing realistic training scenarios at a lower cost to better prepare pre-hospital professionals with a 21st century simulation training.  They are also the winners of the 2018 World Innovation Awards.

Transwestern is a commercial real estate company that provides services in real estate development, agency leasing, and commercial property management across the nation.  Transwestern has been involved in the leasing of healthcare and office space in San Antonio for years and is excited to begin expanding their portfolio to incorporate commercial lab space that meets the needs of our growing bioscience ecosystem.

Kreager Mitchell Law Firm is a San Antonio based firm that has been deeply involved with the life science ecosystem of San Antonio for decades. Their legal counsel focuses on business law, healthcare law, tax law, real estate law, and estate planning.

Nurlabs is a San Antonio startup that was created out of UCLA.  They are developing a new machine learning-driven platform using biomarker nano-chip diagnostic systems, leveraging Raman imaging for lung cancer diagnostic lab tests. Their mission is to detect lung cancer using noninvasive diagnostics tests such as saliva, blood, or urine, helping doctors detect and treat the cancer cells earlier in men and women.

Gryphon Bio is a preclinical-stage therapeutic bioconjugate company based out of San Francisco with an office in San Antonio. They are pioneering therapeutic bioconjugates using biomarker-based diagnostics to target unexpected waves of brain molecules in the blood to help patients with neurological and neurodegenerative diseases such as, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.  Their mission is to develop and market the 1st therapeutic bioconjugate to accelerate brain repair and improve cognition.

STAR Park is a 58-acre site on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.   The 36,000 square foot facility serves as a technology incubator, helping start-ups and early-stage businesses with access to secure wet labs, clean space, conference rooms, and office space.  The facility was designed to foster the collaborative development of new commercial ventures in applied research and help students generate early-stage startups.
