Christus Health’s search for a new CEO to lead the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio is over.

Cris Daskevich will be the downtown pediatric center's new leader, starting Feb. 19. She will also be senior vice president of maternal services for Christus Health, parent company of Christus Santa Rosa Health System, in the U.S. and Latin America

Daskevich joins a team that includes Dr. Charles Hankins, who was recently named president and chief medical officer for the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

The two will work in tandem to roll out a joint leadership model that Christus officials believe will better leverage the system’s physician and administrative strengths and expertise.

Daskevich has been senior vice president at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and brings more than 21 years of experience in health care administration. She and Hankins worked together for 15 years under the joint model at Texas Children’s, where they created and implemented a maternal, fetal and neonatal program across the Houston region and beyond.

Daskevich said she and Hankins will work to develop a “robust vision and strategic plan for maternal and pediatric services” in San Antonio and across the Christus Health system. The two will oversee facility and ambulatory expansion throughout this area, as well as the recruitment of pediatric and maternal fetal medicine specialists through a partnership with Baylor College of Medicine.
